Three Liverpool players with a point to prove v West Brom

Daniel Sturridge

The Liverpool striker touched the ball just 22 times in Monday night’s goalless draw with Manchester United. Daniel Sturridge struggled as the home side failed to get into their passing rhythm and it was no surprise to see the England man hauled off in the 60th minute. The 27-year-old gave the ball away four times during the stalemate. It would be a surprise to see Sturridge in the starting line-up to face West Brom with Adam Lallana back fit, but if the Liverpool striker does retain his place, goals are required to boost confidence and convince Jurgen Klopp.

Loris Karius

Loris Karius has work to do to win over Klopp - too. The jury is out whether he is the right man to occupy the Liverpool goal. Signed in a £4.7m deal from Mainz in the summer, the Reds were hoping that the German shot stopper was the solution to their goalkeeper woes given Simon Mignolet’s inconsistent performances. However, Karius has looked just as wobbly as the Belgium goalkeeper. A clean sheet and a commanding performance would help to settle nerves surrounding the new signing.

Emre Can

Perhaps his inclusion here is a tad harsh. The German midfielder made his first Premier League start of the season on Monday so ring rust was inevitable. However, such is the intense competition for places with Klopp’s squad, Emre Can needs to take his chance to shine in the first-team amid competition from Jordan Henderson, Lucas Leiva and Georginio Wijnaldum.
