Three Middlesbrough changes & first Championship start for summer signing at Cardiff

MICHAEL Carrick has made three changes to his Middlesbrough team for today's game at Cardiff City.

Alex Gilbert comes into the side to make his first Championship start of the season.

Luke Ayling and Dan Barlaser also start, replacing Anfernee Dijksteel, Lewis O'Brien and Sammy Silvera in the starting XI.

Shea Connor, 18, is the keeper on the bench, rather than Jamie Jones, who isn't in the squad.

Charlie Lennon, Law McCabe and Ajay Matthews are also named among the substitutes.

Luke Thomas keeps his place at left-back, with Alex Bangura on the bench and Lukas Engel again absent because of personal reasons.
