Three reasons why Liverpool can challenge for the Premier League title

Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp knows what it takes to win titles. The former Borussia Dortmund manager managed to disrupt Bayern Munich’s dominance of the Bundesliga in 2011 and 2012. This should offer Liverpool supporters encouragement in the face of competitions from Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United next season. Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur will also be contenders.

No Champions League or Europa League

The last time Liverpool had no European distractions Brendan Rodgers led the Reds to the brink of title glory. Steven Gerrard’s slip against Chelsea and a second-half collapse at Crystal Palace was all that stood between the Merseyside outfit and a first Premier League title. That 2013/14 run should provide Klopp’s troops with plenty of encouragement heading into this season.

Attacking depth

Klopp has signed Sadio Mane in a £30m deal from Southampton in a transfer that should see Liverpool’s attack improve on their return in 2015/16 season. Only Roberto Firmino hit double figures in the Premier League last term. Mane managed to beat the Brazilian’s tally in both of his two seasons at Southampton. The Senegal international’s speed will be a welcome addition to a Liverpool side not blessed with a tremendous amount of natural pace.
