Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards sounds out Tom Brady on joining Buccaneers
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is proving to be quite the multi-faceted individual.
Edwards already flexed his acting chops in Adam Sandlers' "Hustle" movie this summer, but now he's showing off another skill: football.
On Wednesday, Edwards posted a video where he throws an absolute dime to a receiver at Georgia Tech's campus and then put on the jets to catch a pass later in the clip.
"Was that not back shoulder?" Edwards said to the camera afterward. "Don't I look like something? What ya'll think? I got a profession in this [expletive] or what?"
That video caught the eye of Tom Brady, who tweeted directly at Edwards to tell him he was playing the wrong sport.
Ant I know the money is good but you’re playing the wrong sport bro. @NFL https://t.co/FC6F05YSmr

Soon after, Edwards tweeted back at Brady to essentially asked if he had an opening for a pass-catcher on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Rob Gronkowski's recent retirement.

Edwards has talked about his football aspirations in the past. He told Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch after a 101-96 win over the Utah Jazz in 2021 that he plays defense like a safety or cornerback on the court to wrack up steals (he tallied five that game and has averaged 1.3 per game since 2020). Edwards even compared his football skills to former Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor, minus the hitting, of course.
Football isn't the only sport Edwards believes he's the also good at. In an interview during his rookie season, Edwards insisted he could play any sport whenever and wherever.
"I used to play baseball when I was young. I could have went to the MLB. I'm seriousy, I'm not even joking. I played pitcher, shortshop, third base, center field. I was fourth-fifth hitter. Straight clean-up. On aisle 3," Edwards said. " ... tennis, swimming, lacrosse – Whatever you need me to play I’m going to go do it. If it’s some money on the line, I’m going to go do it."
