When The Time Comes, Everyone Will Get To Know – Ravi Shastri Speaks On His Future
Ravi Shastri, head coach of Team India, hasn’t given any clear picture about his plans once his contract expires at the end of the T20 World Cup this year in November.
The former all-rounder has been the head coach of the side since mid-2017, taking over from Anil Kumble following India’s loss in the Champions Trophy final. His contract was renewed in August 2019 by Kapil Dev-led Cricket Advisory Committee for a two-year period.
Rahul Dravid, the head of the NCA, who coached a second-string Indian side on the tour of Sri Lanka in absence of Ravi Shastri who was in England, has been touted to be the next coach for a while. However, it seems that Dravid will continue as the NCA head.

In an interview with Times Network’s Navika Kumar, Ravi Shastri was asked about his future as the head coach post the T20 World Cup in the UAE.
The 59-year-old asserted he is currently focussing on the next month-and-half as India battle a fierce Test series in England. He said people will learn about his future at the correct time.
“I am looking forward to the next 45 days. I am not thinking of anything else. Let me focus on that and when the time comes, everyone will get to know where Shastri Ji is heading to next,” Shastri told Times Now.
India have achieved some major highs in the Test arena under the guidance of Ravi Shastri. Under his coaching, Virat Kohli-led side have become an indomitable force at home. India became the first Asian team to win a Test series in Australia; such has been the development of the bench strength under Shastri-Kohli that India won another series Down Under without several key players.
However, the pain of the two ICC knockout losses – 2019 World Cup and 2021 WTC final – in Shastri’s tenure still linger. That can be changed this year.
