There was not much left to the imagination after that performance from Arsenal against Tottenham, with the hosts taking all three points. Here are the main takeaways post the North London Derby:

Wenger has no case for defense

If any team in the world lets their league’s top goal scorer be free of any marking, their fans will probably scratch their heads dry. It was the same case today, when both Koscielny and Mustafi made the smartest of calls to let Harry Kane roam free.

Monreal and Bellerin were not doing any better, letting Eriksen and Alli bully them at will. And just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, Petr Cech was inspiring no real confidence either.

All in all, this truly makes the Gunners’ faithful question the working of Wenger’s once-great footballing brain. He knows his players better than any of us, and yet chooses to employ a system where none of them is really comfortable.

Whether it is time for him to go – I don’t know. What I, and all Arsenal fans, know is that this defence line cannot and should not make it past this summer without wholesale changes.

Missing intensity in away games becoming a regularity

Before throwing all the weight behind the defense-culling though, it has to be said the rest of the team was not doing any wonders. Be it Mkhitaryan or Ozil, Xhaka or Lacazette-there was no real sense of a derby game from Arsenal’s showing.

Spurs had a come with a plan to suffocate and press Arsenal, yes-but the midfield made it too easy for them by simply not turning up. Arsene’s side have been guilty of going into hiding during away games this season, and today was no different.

As a fan, I could sense zero thrust from the players today. The entire game felt like it was played at the same pace and without any effort to turn up the speed of passing.

Wenger may be responsible for the side but there’s only so much you can do when the players show no emotion on the pitch. The desire to win was missing at Wembley, as it has every time Arsenal play away.

Agenda-fuelled FA is fooling no one

First, I’ve made it clear Arsenal had no right to win today. Second, I don’t think they deserve to be in the Champions League next season – not after losing seven on the road.

And yet, for all that they have been severe victims of the gift that keeps giving. The referees take their levels of atrociousness to new heights every time Arsenal play and it is getting on my nerves.

Aubameyang was wrongly given onside last week and it was almost on the cards that this week the officials would over-compensate that, making sure he was never on. It happened twice in this game and that just adds to the number of times the FA has got one over the Gunners this term.

The list is huge and I’m not going to mention it here. However, staying quiet about it will do nothing either. Knowing how important it is for the EPL to give a big upset each week – the propaganda against Arsenal looks set to continue.

Lest we forget, when Arsenal were having their players with broken legs – the team was termed “weak”. God forbid that happened to any other team and suddenly the whole world is worried. Classy, FA.
