Tottenham accused of creating 'artificial' atmosphere with drum beat over the Wembley PA system
Tottenham's first ever Premier League match at Wembley Stadium was marked with the use of drum sounds over the PA system to enhance the atmosphere, according to a number of sources on Twitter.
Spurs hosted Chelsea in their first game away from White Hart Lane, which is being redeveloped into a 60,000-seater stadium for the start of next season.
Fans were also given Tottenham flass to wave to mark the club's first game at the national stadium.
With 70,000 Spurs supporters inside the stadium, the decision to play rumbling drums over the PA system was met with ridicule.
Tottenham seem to be playing a drum over the loud speaker system to create 'atmosphere'. It is not needed

It sounds like a drum is being played over the PA system encouraging #thfc fans to shout "Tottenham". Cue great ridicule from #cfc fans.

Drum beats piped through the PA system at Wembley to inspire some atmosphere: "What the f**king hell was that" sing #CFC fans. Bizarre.

A number of people inside the stadium noticed the strange beating sound and took to Twitter in a bid to find its source.
An image later appeared in Twitter appearing to show a Tottenham fan with a drum hooked up to a microphone.
Tottenham have won just two of their last 10 games at Wembley and their eleventh started poorly as Marcos Alonso gave Chelsea the lead with a sublime free-kick.

Speaking before the game, former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend said he expected Spurs to struggle at home this season.
"Anybody that's played at Wembley will tell you that you normally walk off after a game with your legs shot to pieces," said Townsend.
"It doesn't matter how much Mauricio Pochettino alters the dimensions of pitch to make it similar to White Hart Lane, it is just very different.
"It's not going to be easy for Spurs. They haven't found it that easy playing there up to now," he added.
A win for Tottenham would lift them up to third in the Premier League while Chelsea were looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat to Burnley.
