Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic is on the verge of joining Belgian side Westerlo on loan as part of a long-term plan that could see him integrated into the first-team from next year.

Last September, the 17-year-old reached an agreement over moving to Spurs from Hajduk Split in 2025, signing a five-year contract after club agreed a deal worth around £12million. After that Vuskovic failed to make another appearance for Hajduk before securing a loan move to Polish club Radomiak Radom in January.

He scored three goals in 14 appearances while on loan to the Ekstraklasa outfit during the second half of the campaign. With Vuskovic returning to Hajduk, he is now expected to have another loan spell away from the Croatian club. According to Fabrizio Romano, Vuskovic is close to joining Westerlo.

Vuskovic has agreed to the move and paperwork is pending between Hajduk and Westerlo. It was reported last month that in order for him to be able to play in the UK, GBE (Governing Body Endorsement) points are vital as a points-based system is in place.

The threshold is 15 points, with Belgium or the Netherlands among the best-valued leagues when it comes to collecting points - Vuskovic currently has four points. FIFA rules state that Vuskovic cannot move to Spurs until he turns 18, which is next February.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will be hoping to build on a fifth-place finish under Ange Postecoglou last season. Spurs ended the campaign two points behind Aston Villa in fourth and are set for the Europa League next term, having spent one year out of Europe entirely.
