Tottenham Hotspur have launched an investigation into allegations that star attacker Son Heung-min was racially abused during Spurs’ defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Premier League side are now working with a fan who said he witnessed the abuse.

A Tottenham season ticket holder revealed the incident after the match, claiming the abuse was directed at Son by a home supporter.

He says that when he confronted the fan he was sworn at in front of his son, and he reported the incident to a steward but no action could be taken at the time.

Dickens has since confirmed that Tottenham are looking into the incident, saying: “Spurs have been in touch and I’ll work with them to find the person. Spurs have been great.”

Spurs will work with the fan and stadium safety officials to try to identify the person alleged to have abused the 26-year-old South Korea international.

It comes after the club found itself in hot water back in November when a fan threw a banana skin at Arsenal and Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Abuameyang during the north London derby.

The fan in question was fined and handed a four-year football banning order last month.

Three Chelsea fans were investigated following further incidents of racially motivated abuse during the Blues’ 1-0 defeat to Spurs in their Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday.

Son has been a key player for Spurs this season, scoring eight Premier League goals in 17 appearances.

The 26-year-old forward travelled to the United Arab Emirates after the United loss to join his South Korea team-mates for the Asian Cup.
