Tottenham launch new nostalgic Nike away kit for 2024/25 season which is dividing opinion

Tottenham Hotspur have launched a new Nike away kit for the 2024/25 season which harks back to their change kits from decades ago.

The new light blue striped kit for Ange Postecoglou's side brings back a pattern that the club says is synonymous with away kits of the 1980s and was launched with a retro 80s-inspired campaign film featuring first team players Pape Matar Sarr, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, Martha Thomas, Celin Bizet, Olga Ahtinen and Pedro Porro.

The new Tottenham away kit brings the club's cockerel crest into the centre of the jersey and the sleeves and neckline includes a yellow and white tape which runs as a theme through all of this season’s shirts.

YouTuber and Spurs fan Danny Aarons also appears in the club's new advert and said: "As a Spurs fan, I love it when we go for classic inspiration in our kits. I remember seeing the blue stripe on the away kit when I was a kid, and it’s so good to see the design updated for today. This is iconic Spurs Away for me – and I can’t wait to see it out on the pitch next season."

The shirt, which has appeared in recent months across social media after leaking early - as they do most seasons, has drawn mixed reactions from the Tottenham fans as is often the case with new tops, with some loving it and some feeling it looks like old wallpaper or pyjamas, or even an Argentina shirt. Others have been critical of the club badge being placed centrally rather than over the heart as is traditional.

With Tottenham set to announce new training wear and sleeve sponsors, they announced - as they did with the new home shirt that "for the 2024/25 season, all of our kits will be sold without the sleeve partner logo, and our training range will be sold without the training wear partner logo. These are excluded from retail inventory for the coming season. Details on Third Kit and training range launches will be communicated in due course".

As with the home tops, the away shirts cost an eye-watering £125 for elite men's and women's tops to replicate what the players wear and £85 for the 'stadium' versions for the fans.
