Exclusive: Tottenham going head to head with Everton for rising Feyenoord star

Everton and Tottenham are gearing up for a battle over the signing of Feyenoord youngster Ozancan Kokcu his agent Muzzi Ozcan revealed to Emre Sarigul of Yahoo and Turkish-Football.com.

Ozcan revealed that Tottenham have shown the keenest interest and are pursuing getting a deal done in time for the summer transfer window.

Kokcu has also attracted interested from the Bundesliga and several clubs are in talks with the 18-year-old.

“We have serious offers from England, Holland and Germany,” Ozcan said.

“Tottenham, Everton and clubs in Germany are speaking to him, Spurs are pursuing the contract the hardest.

“In the coming weeks we will decide his future.”

Feyenoord have been unable to sign an extension on his contract which will expire at the end of the season. This has opened the doors to clubs from around Europe to sign the rising star for just a compensation fee.

Several clubs have been keeping tabs on Kokcu and scouting his progress in the Feyenoord youth side.

Feyenoord have an impressive pedigree when it comes to player development. Robin van Persie and Georginio Wijnaldum are two recent examples who made a name for themselves at the Dutch giants before breaking into the Premier League.

Kokcu is a versatile attacking player who can play as a winger, number 10 and as a striker.

The youngster has yet to represent Feyenoord at senior level but has made an impact in the U19 side scoring twice in 14 appearances so far.

Kokcu joined Feyenoord from Groningen last summer after rising through the youth ranks at the Eredivisie league outfit.

Feyenoord are also keen on keeping the 18-year-old prospect on their books but have been unable to tie him down to a long term deal.

Kokcu is eligible to represent Turkey, Azerbaijan and the Netherlands at senior international level. Turkey and Azerbaijan have both made an offer to recruit him but he has yet to decide on his future.

Both Tottenham and Everton have an impressive track record in terms of giving young players a chance.

The likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli have have become star players at the North London based outfit. Spurs actually have the youngest team in the Premier League with an average age of 25.

Everton meanwhile have given the likes of 18-year-old Tom Davies and 20-year-old Mason Holgate a shot while shelling out £7.48 million on 19-year-old winger Ademola Lookman. Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is also very familiar with Feyenoord having previously played for and coached the side.
