West Ham dominated the second period but Spurs held firm to continue their uplift under Antonio Conte.

Here’s how we rated the Tottenham players...

Hugo Lloris - 8

Dealt well with West Ham’s set-pieces and made two acrobatic, one-handed saves to keep out Tomas Soucek headers. Quick off his line to deny Bowen in the second-half.

Davinson Sanchez - 8

Defended well, putting his body on the line to keep West Ham at bay and getting his positioning right when covering wing-back Doherty.

Eric Dier - 6

Gift-wrapped West Ham’s equaliser with a careless pass out before being turned by Bowen. It was a bad moment but he did not left him affect him.

Ben Davies - 7

Solid but unspectacular again. Made one crucial intervention with a brave diving header to repel a cross.

Matt Doherty - 7

Needed to impress and did well. Involved in the build-up to both Spurs goals and put in a couple of dangerous low crosses.

Oliver Skipp - 7

Full of energy and bite against an impressive West Ham pairing. His eventual challenge is to compete with Declan Rice for an England place.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - 8

Played a lovely one-two with Bergwijn to create the opening goal on an impressive return to the side. Relished the second-half rearguard.

Sergio Reguilon - 7

Energetic and solid defensively. Made a limited impression in the final third, one cross for Skipp aside.

Lucas Moura - 8

Capped a bright return to the side with the winning goal. Full of clever tricks and passes, including a Kevin de Bruyne-esque ball for Kane to create the game’s first big chance.

Steven Bergwijn - 8

Took his chance on his first start under Conte with a goal and assist. The performance should give him a huge lift and he looked reborn in the second-half as his confidence returned.

Harry Kane - 6

Tested Alphonse Areola early on but otherwise had no chances of note as his finishing slump continued. Still, he put in a shift and made a good chance for Son.

Substitutes

Heung-min Son (Bergwijn, 60’) - 6

Looked rusty and took a heavy touch from Kane’s pass to fluff a great opening to make the game safe.

Harry Winks (Lucas, 60’) - 6

Struggled slightly to adjust to the pace of the pace of the game, with West Ham well on top. Still, having a good week.

Dele Alli (Skipp, 76’) - 6

See above, really. Not enough chance to make an impression at what he does best, as Spurs doggedly saw out the game.

Emerson Royal (Reguilon, 83’) - 6

Played the final few minutes at right wing-back.

Japhet Tanganga (Doherty, 83’) - 6

Filled in on the left of the back five as Spurs clung on.
