Tottenham host Gent at Wembley on tonight aiming to avoid an early exit from the Europa League.

Mauricio Pochettino's side only dropped into the second-tier tournament following a disappointing Champions League campaign, but came up short in the first leg of their last-32 clash a week ago.

Spurs were caught cold by their Belgian opponents and need to overturn a one-goal deficit under the arch in order to progress.

Such a feat would be difficult to bet against if the game was set to be played at White Hart Lane, but Pochettino's players must prove they can perform at the national stadium when it really matters.

TEAM NEWS

Pochettino appears to have finished giving his fringe players an opportunity to impress and is expected to name a strong side.

Harry Kane will lead the line fresh from his hat-trick heroics at Fulham while midfield duo Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are unlikely to be usurped, having also shone at Craven Cottage.

Harry Winks is pushing for another starting berth but could be replaced by Mousa Dembele.

Kyle Walker is expected to be recalled at right-back, meaning Kieran Trippier will drop to the bench.

Ben Davies is set to continue to deputise for Danny Rose on the left-hand side of defence, with the England international still "a number of weeks" away from a return to training.

Jan Vertonghen is in line to start having come through 90 minutes at Fulham unscathed but Erik Lamela is still sidelined with a troublesome hip problem.

POSSIBLE LINE-UPS

Spurs starting XI: Lloris; Walker, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Davies; Wanyama, Dembele; Eriksen, Alli, Son; Kane.

Gent starting XI: Kalinic; Gigot, Mitrovic, Asare; Foket, Dejaegere, Esiti, Saief; Simon, Milicevic; Osorio.

HEAD TO HEAD

Gent won the only previous meeting between the two sides 1-0 in Belgium last week.
