Tottenham 2-2 Liverpool LIVE! - Premier League result. match stream, latest score and goal updates today
Tottenham vs Liverpool - LIVE!
Harry Kane finally got back on the scoresheet in a 2-2 Premier League draw with Liverpool.
Diogo Jota headed Liverpool level in the 35th and Andrew Robertson nodded the visitors in front from close range in the 69th.
Spurs players were furious as they thought Dele Alli was fouled in Liverpool’s penalty area in the buildup but the appeals were dismissed.
Spurs needed just five minutes to equalize as Alisson Becker made a mess of clearing Harry Winks’ ball through, allowing Son Heung-min to slot into an empty net.
Moments later Liverpool was reduced to 10 men as Robertson got sent off for a wild kick on Emerson Royal.
Liverpool held on but the dropped points are costly, slipping to three points behind leader Manchester City, which beat Newcastle 4-0.
Tottenham is six points behind fourth-place Arsenal but with three games in hand due to coronavirus and snow postponements.

Dan Kilpatrick on Robertson’s red
18:10 , Jonathan Gorrie
There’s no doubting Robertson’s challenge was nasty but Liverpool can point to inconsistency given Kane’s first-half challenge was not reviewed in the same way. Both sides can now say they have been on the wrong side of a poor refereeing decision.
Spurs have to take this
18:10 , Jonathan Gorrie
80:00 - They are never going to get a better chance to beat Liverpool.
A win here would surely make them favourites for the top four and send a statement to the rest of the league.

Dan Kilpatrick on Liverpool’s goal
18:05 , Jonathan Gorrie
A Liverpool sucker-punch felt grimly inevitable following all those Spurs misses but the hosts have every right to feel aggrieved after the ball struck Salah’s arm in the build up. That said, Spurs were on the receiving end of two very lucky refereeing decisions in the first half.
GOAL: Tottenham 2-2 Liverpool - Son ‘73
18:03 , Jonathan Gorrie
73:00- WOW!
Son played in, rounds Alisson, and taps into an empty net.

Spurs must have created as many big chances this evening as in the entire Nuno Espirito Santo era. That’s hugely positive but it’s bordering on ridiculous that they haven’t scored again, leaving you fearing the inevitable sucker-punch...

PENALTY CLAIM

51:00 - Winks brought down by Matip right on the edge of the box.
Spurs want a penalty. Not even a free-kick given.
Dan Kilpatrick’s verdict on the second-half so far
17:40 , Jonathan Gorrie
The question for Spurs in the second half is can they maintain their intensity. The whole squad is effectively coming off an unplanned winter break, which may help some and hinder others. Conte will obviously have to be particularly prudent in managing his Covid-hit players.
CHANCE FOR LIVERPOOL

Dan Kilpatrick update
17:10 , Jonathan Gorrie
Spurs have rued big misses against Liverpool in the past, notably the chances for Bergwijn and Kane at Anfield last season. You wonder if they will look back on the Son and Alli openings after Jota’s equaliser.
17:08 , Jonathan Gorrie
10 & 6 - Diogo Jota has scored 10 goals in a Premier League season for the first time in his career, while only Dominic Calvert-Lewin (8) and Christian Benteke (7) have scored more headed goals than his six since 2020-21. Versatile. pic.twitter.com/wpJUZ0EtV6

Dan Kilpatrick’s verdict
17:07 , Jonathan Gorrie
On the plus side, Spurs have not looked this impressive as a team for a long time, particularly considering the circumstances. On the down side, you fear Liverpool will make them pay for these missed chances, as they have often done in the past.

Dan Kilpatrick on the Kane tackle
16:54 , Jonathan Gorrie
Kane is very lucky to have avoided a red card for that challenge on Robertson and it’s a surprise the VAR did not recommend a second look on the monitor. Conte has clearly got him fired up, at least.

Dan Kilpatrick on Harry Kane
16:48 , Jonathan Gorrie
Conte said recently that Kane only needs the right service to start scoring again. And that’s what Ndombele can bring. The Frenchman’s pass to release Kane was inch perfect and it was a fine finish from the England captain.
Dan Kilpatrick’s verdict
16:46 , Jonathan Gorrie
Both sides are missing key personnel in midfield and Conte’s response has been a tweak of formation. Winks, Dele and Ndombele – who all have a point to prove – are playing as a midfield three, with Son pushed up in support of Kane. It’s a departure from Conte’s usual 3-4-2-1 system.
GOAL: Tottenham 1-0 Liverpool - Harry Kane’13
16:44 , Jonathan Gorrie
13:00 - Brilliant finish from the England captain after Ndombele played him into the box.
That’s more like it!
SPURS CHANCE

12:00 - Kane gets a shot off, albeit on the turn, in the box but can only find Alisson.

Evening Standard Prediction
14:59 , Jonathan Gorrie
Under Conte, Spurs have been functional rather than fantastic. In most other games, it’d be tempting to suggest they could withstand pressure before stealing a goal on the counter, but Liverpool surely have too much.
Liverpool to win 2-1.
Liverpool team news
14:46 , Jonathan Gorrie
Liverpool are without Virgil van Dijk, Curtis Jones and Fabinho for tonight’s Premier League clash with Newcastle after all three players registered “suspected positive tests for Covid-19”.
Better new for Jurgen Klopp is the Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino is available again after injury and starts on the bench, though Jones’ Covid diagnosis adds a further delay to his own return.
Tottenham team news
14:37 , Jonathan Gorrie
Antonio Conte has warned his Tottenham squad it will take them time to regain match fitness after their Covid-enforced break as they face Liverpool this afternoon.
Nine of Conte’s squad were forced into isolation after testing positive and, although he is set to have the majority available on Sunday, the Italian says they are only likely to be fit enough for a place on the bench.
“They need time to be fit,” he told reporters on Friday.
“Before picking the starting XI you have to take into consideration all of this. For instance, to start with one player and after 60 or 70 minutes change him with one player who had Covid. In this situation, it’s important to have patience and take the right risk.”
Giovani Lo Celso could start for the first time under Conte after returning to training midweek following a knee injury, while Sergio Reguilon was expected to rejoin the group on Saturday although may not be deemed ready to start.
