Tottenham and West Ham face off in the EFL Cup on Wednesday in the midst of two contrasting seasons.

Spurs are flying high after a 4-1 win over Liverpool while Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is again facing speculation over his future after a 3-0 home loss to newly promoted Brighton.

Standard Sport understands Bilic has matches against London rivals Spurs and Crystal Palace, on Saturday, before his future will be assessed, and will play a weakened team at Wembley with the Premier League a priority.

A boost for the visitors, though, is that Harry Kane is likely to be rested, but Mauricio Pochettino has many other players capable of hurting the Hammers.

Team news

Harry Kane is expected to be rested for the EFL Cup clash so Fernando Llorente will start.

Juan Foyth will be hoping for his second appearance after playing 90 minutes against Barnsley, while Erik Lamela could take a place on the bench after exactly a year out.

Elsewhere, Tottenham's injury problems could see an otherwise strong midfield and attack.

Slaven Bilic will make wholesale changes despite the mounting pressure on his job after a string of bad results.

Andy Carroll returns after his suspension, while Diafra Sakho and James Collins edge closer to a first-team place following injury.

Predicted line-ups

Tottenham starting XI: Vorm; Walker-Peters, Foyth, Vertonghen, Rose; Winks, Dier; Sissoko, Dele, Son; Llorente

West Ham starting XI: Adrian; Byram, Ogbonna, Reid, Cresswell; Antonio, Lanzini, Fernandes, Noble, Ayew; Sakho
