Tottenham XI vs Manchester United: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest today
Tottenham’s defensive selections are likely to be under the microscope today as Jose Mourinho’s side welcome Manchester United to north London.
The Spurs manager caused confusion with his explanation for Toby Alderweireld’s omission against Newcastle last weekend, claiming the Belgian had only trained the day before the game when, in fact, he had joined the squad two days earlier.
Mourinho recalls Alderweireld to the bench and Serge Aurier to the XI with Eric Dier after difficult outings for Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga at St. James’ Park. Joe Rodon keeps his place
Further forward, there are few other selection decisions for the Spurs manager. Gareth Bale’s big-game experience will have to wait for a possible cameo
Heung-min Son, a half-time replacement for Carlos Vinicius on Tyneside, starts in place of the Brazilian after another week’s training.
Full-backs Matt Doherty and Ben Davies are the only members of the squad sidelined.
