Tottenham XI vs West Ham: Gareth Bale starts on the bench - latest team news, lineup and injury list

Gareth Bale starts on the bench for Tottenham against West Ham today.

Jose Mourinho had teased a second Spurs debut for Bale in today's London derby, with the 31-year-old training throughout the international break in north London having not been involved with Wales.

However, Mourinho had said he will take great caution over the winger's introduction, and Bale has been named on the bench against West Ham.

Eric Dier misses out after withdrawing from international duty with a slight hamstring problem, while Giovanni Lo Celso is also absent with his own hamstring injury.

Mourinho's side come back from the international break having gone into it with a triumphant 6-1 win at Manchester United, but the former Chelsea manager says simply sticking with a winning team is not always the right thing to do.

"If Dier cannot play I have to change," said Mourinho. "Every match is a different match, I think it is quite an old saying that team that win you don't touch. You can touch, because matches are different matches.

"In our case we are going again to a succession of matches where I want the players to think only about one but I have to think of the series of matches we are going to have. I have to build teams ready to compete in every competition and every match."
