Ipswich Town will hold firm on their valuation of Hull City defender Jacob Greaves, the EADT and Ipswich Star understands.

Left-footed centre-back Greaves, 23, was named in the Championship Team of the Season back in April after impressing for a Tigers side that finished just outside the play-off places.

Earlier this month, The Telegraph reported that Blues boss Kieran McKenna had made Greaves his 'first-choice target' when it came to strengthening his central defensive unit ahead of a step up up to the Premier League,

Yesterday, The Athletic reported that the two clubs were in 'active negotiations', adding that the Blues 'started discussions on a potential fee around the £10million mark but that is known to be significantly below Hull’s expectations at this stage'.

The EADT and Ipswich Star understands that Town have only made a basic enquiry at this stage and value the player much lower than the figures stated.

West Ham and Everton have been credited with interest in Greaves this summer, but it's understood neither of those clubs have come to the table yet.

Town's central defensive unit currently comprises of Luke Woolfenden, Cameron Burgess, Axel Tuanzebe and George Edmundson.

The Blues have been linked to several other centre-backs in recent weeks, including Nat Phillips (Liverpool), Joe Rodon (Tottenham), Cedric Kipre (West Brom) and Jayden Oosterwolde (Fenerbache).
