Town's arch-rivals Norwich sack David Wagner after play-off collapse
Ipswich Town's arch-rivals Norwich City have sacked manager David Wagner after last night's play-off defeat to Leeds United.
The Canaries, who overcame a poor start in the regular season to finish sixth in the Championship with 73 points, faced a two-legged tie against Daniel Farke's men for a place at Wembley.
The two sides played out a goalless draw at Carrow Road, but Leeds turned on the style in the reverse leg, thrashing Norwich 4-0 to comfortably seal a spot in the play-off final.
Many supporters had voiced their concerns about Wagner's position throughout the campaign, but a heavy defeat in Yorkshire ended up being the breaking point, with the German-born manager being sacked less than 24 hours after the full-time whistle was blown.
Norwich City have parted company with head coach David Wagner.
We would like to place on record our thanks to David for his hard work and contribution during his time at Norwich City.

Last night's result means that Ipswich will be in a higher league than Norwich for the first time since 2009/10, with the Blues having secured automatic promotion to the Premier League at the start of the month.
Arsenal's assistant manager, 28-year-old Carlos Cuesta, is the 2/1 favourite to replace Wagner in Norfolk per OLBG. Should that happen, he'd become the youngest manager in the EFL.
Sheffield Wednesday's Danny Rohl (7/2) and ex-Hull City boss Liam Rosenior (5/1) are also listed among the frontrunners. Former Canaries defender Steve Bruce (10/1) is also among the names linked with the vacancy at Carrow Road.
