Chelsea are plotting a move for Fenerbahce’s star defender Simon Kjaer according to Turkishfootball.com’s Emre Sarigul.

The Danish central defender has been linked with several sides over the past few weeks and a source close to Fenerbahce revealed that while the Blues have been keeping tabs on Kjaer this season they have not yet received an offer.

The source also revealed that Kjaer has been scouted by several other Premier League and Serie A sides over the course of the season.

The Danish international has attracted interest from across Europe over the past transfer windows since making his move from Lille to Fenerbahce in 2015.

The 27-year-old has been one of the Yellow Canaries stand out players this season and UEFA recently awarded him a place in the Europa League Team Of The Group Stages.

Fenerbahce ended up topping Group A which also included Manchester United and Dutch giants Feyenoord.

Kjaer ended up scoring two goals over the six Europa League group stage games including a last-gasp equaliser against Zorya in the opening match of the campaign and he also found the back of the net in the away victory over the Ukrainian outfit.

The powerful centre-back has a wealth of experience playing across Europe in the Serie A, Ligue 1, Bundesliga and Super Lig.

Kjaer has been a key member of Dick Advocaat’s Fenerbahce team this season and Fenerbahce are reluctant to part ways with him over the winter transfer break.

Fenerbahce’s contract with Kjaer runs until 2019 and they have rejected all previous approaches to sign their star man.

The Yellow Canaries are currently fourth in the Super Lig, seven points behind first places Basaksehir and have booked a place in the Europa League Round of 32 where they will face Russian side FC Krasnodar.
