Wednesday 31 August 2022 15:28 , Matt Verri

Frank Lampard made it clear last night he expects Gordon to stay at the club.
He said: “I’m very confident he’ll be our player. The deadline to decide to sell him has passed.”
Aubameyang move still possible
Wednesday 31 August 2022 15:09 , Matt Verri

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains a target, despite suffering a broken jaw in an armed robbery, and Fabrizio Romano reports that new talks have begun between Chelsea and Barcelona.
It’s believed that personal terms are already agreed with the striker from Chelsea’s perspective, but they still need to finalise the structure of a potential deal with Barcelona. Both parties appear keen on making it happen.

Wednesday 31 August 2022 14:53 , George Flood

The Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea HAVE been offered a sensational deal to sign the Brazilian superstar before tomorrow night’s transfer deadline.
While Todd Boehly and Clearlake have not been afraid to splash the cash this summer, with a new Premier League record looming for a single window, such a blockbuster transfer is rated unlikely at this stage.
Surely not!

Ronaldo and Wan-Bissaka staying at Man United
Wednesday 31 August 2022 13:08 , George Flood
Erik ten Hag has now claimed that the deals for Antony and Martin Dubravka will bring an end to Manchester United’s summer spending.
At a press conference held before Thursday’s Premier League trip to Leicester, the Dutchman refused to discuss his reunion with Ajax’s Brazilian winger specifically as the necessary paperwork is not yet fully complete.
“For this window, it will be the end,” Ten Hag said of United’s plans. “You always have to be alert at a top club. But we will go from September to minimum January with this squad.
“In the offensive department we needed to strengthen the squad. Offensive players fatigue quicker. They have to run more with high intensity.”
Ten Hag also confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will both STAY at Old Trafford beyond the deadline.

But he’s not done yet, with The Independent reporting that a new right-sided defender to compete with Diogo Dalot is next on the wishlist, with Barcelona’s Sergino Dest apparently seen as the most viable option.
Barca apparently want to offload the USA international, but much will depend on United securing the exit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka amid interest from former club Crystal Palace and West Ham.

Wednesday 31 August 2022 12:24 , George Flood

The ex-Arsenal captain was said to have been hit in the face with an iron bar in front of his wife and children during the attempted burglary that took place in the early hours of Monday morning.
Our best wishes to Pierre for a speedy recovery.
Aubameyang’s injury is not expected to prove a barrier to joining Chelsea before tomorrow night’s deadline, but an agreement between the clubs is yet to be reached with time quickly running out.

Arsenal fired Danilo transfer warning
Wednesday 31 August 2022 10:46 , George Flood
Arsenal have been warned that Palmeiras have no plans to sell midfielder Danilo before the transfer window shuts on Thursday, writes Simon Collings.
Danilo is of long-term interest to Arsenal and sources in Brazil claim the Gunners made a fresh enquiry about him on Tuesday.
That was knocked back by Palmeiras, with the Brazilian side only willing to sanction a sale now if his £86million release clause for foreign suitors is met.
Palmeiras are reluctant to sell now as they are currently competing to retain the Copa Libertadores. Danilo is admired by other clubs in Europe, not just Arsenal, with AC Milan one of those also tracking him.
Arsenal could swoop for a midfielder before the transfer window slams shut as both Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are currently out injured.

The Yorkshire club hope to complete a medical today, subject to a few final details. They have seen off competition from AFC Wimbledon to sign the 19-year-old.
Simons recently penned a new contract at Stamford Bridge until 2023, with the club holding an option to extend the deal by another year.
The renewal came as a relief within the Chelsea academy after he snubbed transfer interest from Watford, Norwich, Southampton and Brighton with his old deal due to expire this summer.
Now, with the Blues having signed academy midfielders Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei for a combined £33million, they have opted to loan out their homegrown talent.
Arsenal and Chelsea target Zaha set for Palace stay
Wednesday 31 August 2022 09:00 , George Flood
Wilfried Zaha cut a very frustrated figure at Selhurst Park last night.
The Crystal Palace talisman continued his red-hot start to the season by netting another brilliant effort shortly before the hour mark against Brentford.
However, he later his expressed his frustration and said he was “lost for words” after the Eagles conceded another late goal courtesy of Yoane Wissa to draw.
Patrick Vieira, though, insists Zaha is going nowhere amid strong late interest in a deal from London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
“I didn’t even put that in my head,” the Palace boss said. “I didn’t even ask myself that question. I’m working with him every day and there is no doubt, there is nothing crossing my mind that something like that will happen.
“He never showed anything like that. The only thing he is showing is competitiveness on the field, doing well for the super club that he loves very much.
“Today, we needed something special to score a goal and Wilfried delivered,” Vieira said, and when asked whether the speculation over Zaha’s future had become a distraction he added: “None at all. We’re used to it.
“When you look at his smile when he scored that goal, it says everything. The smile on his face tells you how much he loves this football club.”

Wednesday 31 August 2022 08:27 , George Flood

Jurgen Klopp performed a dramatic public U-turn on his stance over not signing a new midfielder last week amid injuries to the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
And the Reds are now pondering a £42m bid for Caicedo, per The Sun, a player whom Brighton only signed for £4.5m last January.
However, Potter insists that the Seagulls are determined to keep their Ecuador international at the Amex.
“In football you never know, but we are quite calm and confident,” he said. “You’d probably get his boots for that from the chairman — maybe! £100m? They can try.
“It doesn’t surprise me that people are looking at him, because he is playing at a fantastic level.
“He is a top, top kid, a great person. But the position that the club are in is that we don’t want to lose him and we don’t think we will. He has all the attributes to play at the very, very highest level.”

Klopp: Our midfield target joined another club
Tuesday 30 August 2022 22:46 , Matt Verri
Jurgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool were unsuccessful in bringing in their top midfield target earlier in the summer.
It’s believed Aurelien Tchouameni was the man Liverpool wanted, before the Frenchman opted to join Real Madrid instead.
“We were going for a midfielder but that midfielder decided to go to another club,” Klopp said.
“That can happen. Some players in this moment are not available but for us really interesting. That’s how it is - we can make that decision.
“And now we can make the decision – we bring somebody in where you think, ‘Is it the right one?’ I’m not 100 per cent sure; short term probably yes, long term I’m not 100 per cent sure, and what would that mean for the next transfer?
“So, we always wanted, we always wanted but it was always about the right one. And we cannot change that just because of some things.”

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s match against Aston Villa, Saka was asked if he agreed with Arteta’s view
He replied: “Yes, I share his confidence”.

Conte addresses reports Tottenham have offered Kane a new contract
Monday 29 August 2022 15:48 , Jonathan Gorrie
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has reiterated the club’s desire to hand Harry Kane a new contract.
Kane is in the final two years of his contract, signed in 2018, and failed to engineer a move to Manchester City last summer. The arrival of Conte as manager late last year, and the subsequent return to the Champions League, has softened Kane’s desire to leave.

Marco Asensio offered to Arsenal
Monday 29 August 2022 15:22 , Jonathan Gorrie
Speaking to wettfreunde, Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update on Marco Asensio’s future.
"Marco Asensio has been offered by his agent to many important English clubs including Arsenal, Man Utd in the last two weeks."
"At the moment for Man Utd, he is not the priority. He was one of the options in case the Antony deal did not go through. But now it is almost completed, so it’s not the case and I don’t see them signing one more winger at this point in the market."
"For Arsenal, there is no direct negotiation with Real Madrid but the relationship with Jorge Mendes is always very good, so could be a last minute idea but at the moment it’s not a negotiation."
"For sure, Marco Asensio is looking for an opportunity and till deadline day, he will try to find a nice opportunity because he wants to play. He wants regular playing time. But in case he won’t be playing, he will stay at Real Madrid and then next summer, big opportunity to leave on a free."
"So, his agent is potentially working on a free transfer for next summer in case nothing happens this week."
