Friday 10 June 2022 20:38 , Marc Mayo

Celtic have secured the permanent signing of defender Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham on an undisclosed fee.

The United States international enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Scottish champions last term, his seventh stint away from north London after turning out for the likes of Bournemouth and Swansea in the Championship.

“I am so pleased to complete my move to Celtic and I really could not be happier,” he told the Glasgow side’s website.

“I have loved every minute of my time at Celtic so far and I really wanted to be part of the club’s future.”

Chelsea in the hunt for Jules Kounde

Friday 10 June 2022 20:09 , Marc Mayo

Sevilla have admitted that Chelsea are among the prime candidates to sign Jules Kounde - with the player ready for a new challenge.

The LaLiga club’s general manager Jose Maria Cruz de Andres has defended their decision to rebuff the Blues’ bid for Kounde last summer, in the hope that he would improve and command a higher price.

The France international is reportedly nearing a £65million move to Chelsea to form part of Thomas Tuchel’s side next season, although the Sevilla chief asserted that they are not the club interested in Kounde.

“The player, I am sure, respects Sevilla,” he told Sport Witness. “He is happy with us. In the case of Kounde, it is not a matter of money. It’s a matter of him wanting to play in a more competitive team than Sevilla.”

Hmmm...

Friday 10 June 2022 18:55 , Marc Mayo

Trevor Sinclair reckons Raheem Sterling is a prime option to sign for LIVERPOOL.

“I think they’d have him,” the former Manchester City and England man told talkSPORT.

“I think Liverpool fans would have him back because they’ve seen what he’s won at Manchester City and the way that he’s conducted himself.

“Obviously it was not the greatest way to leave the football club and there was a lot of animosity between the club, the fans and Raheem.

“But whether Raheem goes back there? He might be a little bit scared by the way he was treated when he left. But I think Liverpool would have him.”

Bale: I’m not going to Getafe

Friday 10 June 2022 17:52 , Matt Verri

Gareth Bale has dismissed the notion of signing for Getafe ahead of next season.

After being released by Real Madrid, the Wales winger’s focus when selecting his next club will be building his fitness for the World Cup, amid reports he could join the LaLiga club to prolong his stay in the Spanish capital.

“For sure it influences it, I just want to be playing going into the World Cup as fit as I can,” he told reporters on Friday.

“Hopefully I can enjoy my holiday and then decide where I want to be and what I want to do, to try and be playing games to be as fit as I can for the World Cup.”

Trossard on Arsenal’s radar

Friday 10 June 2022 17:34 , Matt Verri

Brighton’s Leandro Trossard is a player reportedly on Mikel Arteta’s wish-list this summer.

Voetbal Belgie claim the 27-year-old is being considered by the Gunners, as they plan additions in midfield and in forward areas.

Another player entering the final 12 months of his contract, the Belgian international would be a Premier League-proven addition to his attack.

While perhaps not as an exciting name as some of the other names linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, it’s worth remembering the 27-year-old out-scored all but two Arsenal players last season for a team not exactly renowned for putting the ball in the back of the net.

Blind spent four seasons at Old Trafford before joining Ajax, where he worked under Ten Hag until the manager made the switch to United this summer.

“He’s really social,” Blind told United’s website.

“I think, also in Ajax, he knows everyone at the club is important. Everyone needs to be involved to get that winning feeling, that winning mentality.

“He is aware of that and wants to keep everything close. He’s also a control freak and wants to be on top of everything. I think that’s a special quality you need to have when being that good.”
