Troy Parrott has admitted that he has yet to speak to Ange Postecoglou regarding his Tottenham future. Allowed to depart north London on loan last summer, the Republic of Ireland international headed for the Netherlands and penned a season-long deal with Excelsior Rotterdam.

Previously struggling to find the scoresheet on a regular basis in his loan spells with Millwall, Ipswich Town, MK Dons and Preston North End, his time in the Eredivisie proved to be a huge success for all parties concerned. In an Excelsior Rotterdam team that finished 16th and were eventually relegated in the end-of-season play-offs, the 22-year-old contributed with 17 goals and five assists in 32 games.

His tally included seven goals in three successive play-off appearances, with Parrott notching a hat-trick in their second leg tie against Den Haag before scoring another treble in their second match against NAC Breda. Having continued his prolific form in front of goal with a last-minute winner for Republic of Ireland on Tuesday evening as they beat Hungary 2-1, the Spurs man was asked about whether Postecoglou has spoken to him yet about next season.

"No, not yet. I'm sure I will have those conversations after my break," he said, as reported by The Independent. "I just want to have a holiday and go from there."

Whatever happens this summer with Parrott, the frontman's time in the Netherlands was extremely beneficial and something that could help his game in the years ahead.

"Before I went over, I was questioning it a little bit because it's a foreign country with a different language," he said (via "I didn't know what to expect, but as soon as I went there everyone speaks English and it's not too different.

"The football is different, but the lifestyle and the people are not too different... I've loved it over there. It's been everything I hoped would happen when I first decided to go over, so I'm buzzing...

"A few people have asked me that [about the level] but it's difficult to compare. There are obviously some really big clubs over there and then there are some middle and then some lower, so I don't know how to compare it to the English leagues.

"It's a good league, there are good teams and good stadiums, so I loved it over there... I feel like it's more technical over there, you have to use your brain a lot more rather than just being physical. It's suited me and how the season has gone has shown that."
