TrustSTFC launch survey to assess fan opinion on state of the club

The Swindon Town Supporters Trust are looking to canvass opinions from across the fan base to express to the club.

The Trust have sent out a survey, which you can access here, for all supporters to fill out so they can share their opinions on a number of topics around the club, including on-pitch performance, the stadium, and the current leadership structure. Members of the Trust board will also be available to speak to before Saturday’s game at Swindon Cricket Club.

This is the first phase of the Trust’s plan to collate fan opinion and be able to display that to the club, giving clear evidence of any areas that the supporters feel need improvement.

The survey features a mixture of quantitative and qualitative questions, giving the opportunity for numbers to be presented to the club and also for fans to share their own feelings about what needs to be done to improve the current state of the club.

Speaking to the Adver, Trust Vice Chair James Phipps spoke about what the board want to achieve by surveying fan opinion.

He said: “The reason that the new board took time to come together was because we do represent the whole array of fans.

“Trying to align fans is tough, some clearly want to get rid of the current ownership, there are others who are not happy about it but are okay with it, and there are a vast amount in-between who I feel have got a certain degree of apathy to where the club is.

“We need to say to the club, you need to be honest and you need to be reflecting on why it is such a bad season, why it is in the place that it is in and learn from it and learn quickly.

“For the very first time we have had communication from people who have been lifelong season ticket holders and they are not going to renew next season for the first time, and that is both tragically sad and frustrating.

“The club need to understand that level of feeling that is out there, I do think that there is a level of frustration which has come from really poor communication.

“We want to work with the club to tell them how the fans really feel and make clear to them the implications of their decisions because I am not sure that that is fully understood by everyone at the club.”
