Two arrests made after pitch invasion follows Arsenal’s 2-0 FA Cup win at Sutton United

Metropolitan Police have confirmed that two arrests were made after the pitch invasion at the end of Sutton United’s FA Cup tie with Arsenal.

A 27-year-old man from Morden was arrested for an alleged pitch incursion and has been bailed to appear at South London Magistrates’ Court on March 6.

A 15-year-old man was also arrested for alleged breach of the peace and was taken home to prevent further breach of the peace. He was subsequently de-arrested.

Hundreds of supporters from both sides streamed onto the pitch at full-time after the match, which ended 2-0 to the Premier League side after goals from Lucas Perez and Theo Walcott.

Arsenal players were swiftly escorted from the pitch and Paul Doswell, manager of the National League side, said in his post-match press conference: “I saw a few idiots shouting and screaming at Wenger and Arsenal players.

“They’ve got to be protected from those types of people.”
