Two Rangers legends met youngsters from a Glasgow primary school as part of an exciting programme.

Lee McCulloch, 46, and John 'Bomber' Brown, 62, met pupils from Ibrox Primary School in Govan while attending the Rangers Charity Foundation's Scottish FA Extra Time after-school programme at the Ibrox Community Complex.

The former Motherwell and Wigan star, who played with Rangers from 2007 until 2015, while Brown was at the club from 1988 until 1997.

The 'Extra Time' programme is funded via a partnership between the Scottish Government and Scottish FA.

It is aimed at tackling poverty by providing affordable childcare for low-income families.

Through it, the foundation provides free childcare two days a week to pupils at Ibrox Primary, Pirie Park, and Riverside Primary Schools.

During the after-school programme, the youngsters take part in a combination of some sports and physical activities, crafts, play, homework, and group work activities.

The football clubs charity foundation claims by providing access to free and structured children's activities, parents and carers can increase their working hours.

On top of that, the foundation also offers parents access to wellbeing drop-in group sessions.

Lee McCulloch said: “I really enjoyed meeting the kids today and learning more about the Foundation’s Extra Time programme as well as some of the other community programmes they offer.

“The coaches make sure the kids have great fun and what a bonus to be able to use the facilities at the Ibrox Community Complex!”

Meanwhile, the Rangers Charity Foundation Chief Executive Connal Cochrane said: “We’re hugely grateful for the support being offered to the Rangers Charity Foundation for the Extra Time project from the Scottish FA via its partnership with the Scottish Government.

"The range of support, from long-term after-school care to school holiday provision and wider holistic support for parents and carers facing challenges will I am sure help make a really powerful difference for many families.

“Today’s activity also provides a timely opportunity to celebrate the continuing revitalisation of the Ibrox Community Complex where so many of our life-changing programmes are delivered and the fantastic platform that it will provide our wonderful work to thrive and grow in the future.”
