UFC 188 Welterweight Bout Scrapped After Weight-Cut Issues

A UFC 188 welterweight bout between Albert Tumenov and Andrew Todhunter has been cancelled.

The bout was removed from Saturday’s card in Mexico City on Thursday after Tumenov was deemed medically unable to continue, according to UFC officials. He was having trouble making weight, and, according to an MMAFighting.com report, passed out during the weight-cutting process.

Todhunter, a 27-year-old former American sniper in the U.S. Army in Iraq, was already a last-minute replacement for Hector Urbina. A new replacement will not be sought. UFC 188 will continue with a reduced card of 11 bouts.

With the loss of the bout, there will now be two instead of three bouts on the UFC Fight Pass prelims: Augusto Montano vs. Cathal Pendred and Gabriel Benitez vs. Clay Gollard.

Tumenov will still weigh-in on Friday so that he can collect his show money.
