UFC 302 weigh-in results: One fighter misses, but Makhachev and Poirier set for headliner

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – MMA Junkie was on scene and reporting live from Friday’s official UFC 302 fighter weigh-ins, where all but one fighters hit their marks.
In the main event, lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (25-1 MMA, 14-1 UFC) puts his title on the line against former interim champ Dustin Poirier (30-8 MMA, 22-7 UFC). Poirier was the first fighter to the scale and was 155 on the nose. Makhachev was just two fighters behind him and was 155, as well, to make the title bout official without any drama.
In the co-feature, Paulo Costa (14-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) was the last fighter to come to the scale about 75 minutes into the session, but was on the mark at 185 pounds for his bout against former middleweight champ Sean Strickland (28-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC). Strickland was the second fighter to the scale during the session and was 185 pounds without issue.
The first bout on the card at flyweight between Andre Lima (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Mitch Raposo (9-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will become a catchweight after Lima came in at 130 pounds. Raposo, who is making his UFC debut on short notice, was 125.
The early weigh-ins took place at the UFC host hotel in Jersey City, N.J., and preceded the ceremonial weigh-ins for the fans, which take place at 5 p.m. ET at Prudential Center in nearby Newark. The same venue hosts Saturday’s event (pay-per-view, ESPN2, ESPN+).
