UFC Fight Night 66 Results: Frankie Edgar Decisions Urijah Faber, Calls Out Dana White for Title Shot

Frankie Edgar won a unanimous decision over Urijah Faber at UFC Fight Night 66 in Pasay, Philippines on Saturday.

The former lightweight champion stayed relentless in his takedown efforts, gaining scores of 50-45 across the judges' panel.

Edgar then said during his post-fight interview that he feels he deserves a title shot with a win over a marquee name like Faber, calling out UFC President Dana White in the process.

“I wanted to go out there and really make a statement,” he said, later adding, “I want that title, man. Dana's not here, again. I don't know if he's ducking me, but I want that title shot.”

Both fighters came out the gate looking incredibly quick. Edgar, however, landed strikes in greater volume in the opening five minutes. Faber scored a significant strike of his own in Round 2 that left Edgar's mouth bloody.

Edgar scored three takedowns in the third round, but Faber looked difficult to keep down, working his was back to his feet each time. But with the little time he had Faber on the ground, Edgar landed punches and hammerfists to score with strikes.

The two engaged in a number of flurries in the stand-up game, missing many punches simply because their quick defensive movements. Edgar at one point in the fourth scored another takedown and worked briefly on the ground before Faber again got back onto the feet.

Edgar looked to be pulling away in the final round, securing yet another takedown and adding up the striking count before time expired.

With the win, Edgar improves to 19-4-1 and awaits the winner of the UFC featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor at UFC 187 in July.
