UFC Fight Night 87 Results: Stefan Struve Scores a Quick KO, Pays Tribute to Fallen Teammate
Stefan Struve showed his might at UFC Fight Night 87 on Sunday in Rotterdam, taking out Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva just 15 seconds into their bout.
Silva entered the fight having won just a single bout out of his last six trips to the Octagon. Struve was in a similar position, winning one of his four most recent bouts. In short, it was an important fight for both men.
It would be Struve that left a lasting impression, getting back in the win column with a brutal knockout finish.
When the bell sounded, they immediately went to the center of the Octagon, where Struve’s right cross met Silva’s jaw. Silva continued to move forward, trying to clinch with the seven-foot-tall Dutch fighter, but Struve connected with a knee to the body that sent the Brazilian to the canvas.

Struve followed him down, landing several punches and hammerfists before a relentless series of rearward elbows forced the referee to step in and stop the fight at the 15-second mark.
“I told myself, elbow, elbow, elbow, and it worked,” Struve said after the fight.
It was a huge victory for Struve, as many questioned whether or not the young Dutchman had lost his ability to climb to the highest ranks of the UFC heavyweight division.
“People thought I lost it. I didn’t lose it. I’m back. I’m back!” he proclaimed.
Although Struve was obviously ecstatic with his victory, the moment was made somewhat somber by the recent passing of Struve’s Blackzilians teammate Jordan Parsons, who died earlier this week in a hit-and-run incident in Delray Beach, Fla.
When Struve did his post-fight interview in the Octagon, he was wearing the black armband with the initials JP on it that he had worn at the weigh-in. He took a moment to pay respect to his fallen teammate.
“A very loved teammate of ours lost his life this past week, very tragic,” said Struve. “I want to thank Jordan for being such an amazing part of our team. Always commenting, giving us great energy. He will be missed by many. God speed. Thank you so much for letting me learn and know you.”
