UFC New Orleans Results: Dustin Poirier Finishes Yancy Medeiros
Dustin Poirier earned a first-round knockout of Yancy Medeiros on the main card at UFC Fight Night New Orleans on Saturday.
Poirier found an edge on the feet early, blasting away at Medeiros before earning the technical knockout at 2:38 of the opening round.

Poirier opened up with the first significant strike, a right hand that dropped Medeiros. He continued the onslaught until the fight went to the ground where Poirier worked for a rear-naked choke.
Medeiros worked his way back to the feet and attempted trading with Poirier again, which ended up not paying off for him. Poirier landed a number of strikes while his opponent struggled to stay standing. The referee stepped in to stop the contest with Medeiros looking dazed from the number of punches landed.
Poirier said in his post-fight interview that following the win in New Orleans he wants to be given a top-10 opponent. Saturday's fight established a two-fight win streak.
