The father of a Liverpool player could see the "ultimate dream" for his son come true in the event that Anthony Gordon moves to Anfield. It comes as the clock ticks on any deal, with Newcastle potentially needing to make a sale before the June 30 accounting deadline in order to comply with Profitability and Sustainability Regulations.

Newcastle's initial approach to Liverpool, who is interested in Gordon, involved proposing a swap involving Jarell Quansah. We've seen a number of PSR-affected clubs make convoluted pseudo-swap deals of this ilk.a

But Liverpool, which has no such worries, rejected the idea of losing Quansah out of hand. If Newcastle decides it still needs to strike a deal, the Reds could theoretically make other players available in some capacity,

Caoimhin Kelleher would be one obvious candidate, with Newcastle in the market for a goalkeeper and the Irishman keen on becoming a number one somewhere. That has all the makings of a win-win.

But with Liverpool not actually needing to sell anybody, and potentially sensing the chance to get better value for someone like Kelleher in a more conventional deal, perhaps it could even try and sweeten the package with nothing more than a loan. It has a number of promising youngsters who could improve the Newcastle squad.

There's Tyler Morton, returning from a loan at Hull and clearly ready to make the next step. But among the more intriguing options is Bobby Clark, whom Liverpool signed from the Newcastle youth setup in 2021.

Clark was involved with the Liverpool first team under Jurgen Klopp last season, and never once looked out of place. But competition for places at Anfield is fierce, and a Premier League loan could do him good.

Meanwhile, he knows Newcastle inside out — not only from his academy days, but also because his father is former player Lee Clark. And Clark Senior has previously admitted that the "ultimate dream" is to see his son play for the Magpies:

"Absolutely [I'd like to see it]," he told No Tippy Tappy Football. "I don't know how many fathers and sons have done it for the club. I was lucky enough to do it 265 times.

"Who knows, he might have to do an Alan Shearer and come back. But yeah, that would be my ultimate dream. Definitely."

Liverpool won't be interested in losing a talent it fought so hard to sign in the first place on any permanent basis. But who knows, perhaps the desire to strike a Gordon deal could see Lee Clark's dream come true, if only via a loan.

Liverpool.com says: Newcastle would have to be pretty eager for a sale to allow a loan deal to sweeten the pot. But Liverpool would obviously be paying good money too, and it may be that the Magpies really are in desperate need of a sale soon.

Clark looks ready to make an impact as a regular in a Premier League side. If such a loan was available, it could be shrewd for Liverpool to arrange it regardless of the Gordon situation, with minutes at Anfield likely to be difficult (albeit not impossible) to obtain.
