Vikes run well indoors

Mar. 27—INDIANAPOLIS — Barr-Reeve Vikings boys and girls ran well on Saturday at the HSR Indoor State meet held at the Indiana State Fall Creek Pavilion.

Elle Knepp ran well in her 60 hurdle prelim and advanced to the finals and earned herself a podium finish in 7th place along with a New School Record of :9.41. Her previous school record set last year at the indoor state meet was :9.43. After finishing her hurdle finals she competed in the Long Jump and finished 20th overall with a jump of 15-25" She was also the lead leg of the women's 4×400 along with Madison Senne, Madisyn Wagler and Cassy Churchwell anchoring for the Lady Vikings with a time of 4:32.21 and finishing in 23rd place. Also competing for the Lady Vikings was our 4×800m relay, with Senne running the first leg followed by Madisyn Wagler, Kennedy Sinnott and anchoring for the women's 4×800m relay was Emma Salmon. They ran very well and ended up with a new Personal Record with a time of 11:09 and ended up 18th overall. There previous time was 11:13.

Also competing individually for the Lady Vikings was Mya Raber. She ran in the 60h prelim and ran a new PR with a time of :10.16 her previous time was :10.33. She finished 16th place overall. Also qualifying for the state meet were Katie Raber, Allie Knepp and Emily Wagler as alternates on our relays.

On the boys' side B-R took two relays to the indoor state meet. The 4×800m relay consisting of Paxton Traylor, Owen McCracken, Alton Klopfenstein and anchoring for the team was Kaden Buse. They were just a few seconds off of their personal record.

They ran 8:47.07 and finished 20th overall. The boys 4000m distance medley relay ran very well and set a new PR with a time of 11:15.14. Leading off for the relay was Pierce Yoder running 1200 meters then Kaden Buse ran the 400m leg, Alton Klopfenstein ran the 800m leg and Traylor anchored the relay running the 1600m leg. The boys ran extremely well despite one of the members not feeling well. They placed 16th overall.

"It was a great weekend with PR's and a new school record and podium finish. Last year we only took one athlete this year we had 15 athletes to qualify. We are looking forward to our outdoor season and should have a strong showing on both of our women's and men's teams," said coach Jodi Knepp.
