North East football fans have been urged to check their wardrobes as they may be sitting on hundreds of pounds worth of vintage Euro shirts.

As England prepares for their final Euro 2024 group-stage match against Slovenia, Betway researched the most costly vintage Euro football shirts.

Denmark's Euro 1992 kit took the lead, with the shirt's average price reaching £350.

This kit, worn during Denmark’s surprise Euro 1992 victory over Germany, commands the highest price due to its significant history.

The Republic of Ireland's 1988 kit claimed second place, a shirt costing £233.

Not far behind, at £229, is the away kit from England's 1996 Euros campaign.

England's team donned this jersey during the 1996 Euros semi-final against Germany in which current manager Gareth Southgate infamously missed his penalty in the shootout.

The fourth and fifth places belong to France's 1996 kit and England's 1980 kit, fetching £210 and £200 respectively.

For fans wishing to purchase vintage shirts on a budget, the most affordable option is Switzerland's 2004 home kit which can be bought for as little as £38.

It was worn during the 2004 Euros where Switzerland was eliminated in the group stages by France.

Germany's 2008 kit follows with a price tag of £44, reflecting the year when Spain snatched the Euros title from Germany.

Northern Ireland’s 2016 Euros kit comes in third at £46 meanwhile, England's cheapest retro kit is from Euro 2004 and would set fans back £47.
