Huddersfield Town manager Andre Breitenreiter has vowed his team will 'give our best to the end' in an attempt to spoil a Portman Road promotion party.

Tuesday night's hard fought 2-1 win at Coventry means Ipswich Town - who have lost just one home league game in 18 months - need just a point on the final day of the regular campaign to secure back-to-back automatic promotions into the Premier League.

Huddersfield are effectively relegated due to the fact they are three points behind Plymouth and have a 15 goal inferior goal difference. Terriers fans, meanwhile, wouldn't be too sad to see fellow Yorkshire club Leeds United miss out on a top-two finish.

“I told the team in the dressing room after the game, we are professionals, and we want to try to give our best until the end,” Breitenreiter told BBC Radio Leeds, following Saturday's 1-1 home draw with Birmingham.

“This is what the fans expect, and this is what we expect from each other. We have one last game, and maybe we can decide the promotion battle. For that, we prepare the week as usual, like every week.

“Then the season is over, and then it’s time for the whole analysis, and maybe to take some decisions for the future.”

Asked what sort of side he would field against Ipswich, the German said: “We will see what happens next week, which players maybe are injured. Maybe we have some illnesses, you never know what happens in such a last week.

“Maybe it’s a possibility to give some players a chance, but also again I have to say, we are professionals, and we have to play with the best team, because we want to win this game, but sometimes it can be possible that it’s a young player than another player.”
