MARK Duffy has been confirmed as Warrington Rylands’ new manager.

The man who guided the team through until the end of the season alongside Dean Furman on an interim basis has put pen-to-paper to take the job on a permanent basis and lead Blues into the 2024-25 season.

Duffy and the squad he assembles will be tasked with backing up an impressive campaign which saw them defy expectations to reach the Northern Premier League Premier Division play-offs before eventually falling to a Marine side who went on to clinch promotion.

The 38-year-old’s playing career saw him play in the Football League for the likes of Birmingham City and Sheffield United among others, helping the latter to promotion to the Premier League in 2019.

He can also count Scunthorpe United, Doncaster Rovers and Burton Albion among his former clubs while he made his first steps into management with Macclesfield ahead of last season having helped them to promotion as a player.

He parted ways with the club in October before joining the playing staff at Gorsey Lane in February, making nine appearances.
