FOR the majority of the Warrington Wolves squad, this week will be about recharging the batteries.

Super League takes a break this weekend for England’s mid-season international against France in Toulouse – a game in which four Wire players are in contention to play.

But while George Williams, Ben Currie, Matty Nicholson and James Harrison go into international camp, their club teammates will take the chance to recuperate ahead of the final 12 regular-season games plus whatever may follow in the play-offs.

The first of those will be Huddersfield Giants’ visit to The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday, July 5.

“There’s a few busted-up guys in there looking forward to having a couple of days away,” head coach Sam Burgess said after Saturday’s victory over Hull FC.

“That’s more mentally as well as we’ve had a big period.

“We’ve got 10 or 11 league games left, so this is a good chance for us to get away, reset and come back in with a little bit of energy.”

A week off for Warrington Wolves players

It is understood the first-team squad have been given the entirety of this week off, with the exception of those currently being treated for injuries and younger players who could potentially feature for the reserves against St Helens on Saturday.

They will then regather on Monday for a full week of preparations for the Round 16 clash with the Giants.

When they return, it will be a full and uninterrupted schedule until the end of the season with no further weeks off.
