Former India opener Wasim Jaffer, who is pretty famous for his hilarious and cryptic tweets on social media, has come up with another one on eve of the third Test match between England and India to be played at Leeds, Headingley from August 25.

India is up by 1-0 after two Test matches thanks to an amazing 151-run win at Lord’s and will look to take an unassailable lead by winning the Leeds Test match. The pitch historically has favored spin in Headingley on the last two days of the match, as it breaks down and wears. This might entice India to go in with two spinners and three pacers.

Sometimes You Might Not Know But You Just Need That Cup Of Filter Kaapi: Wasim Jaffer Bats For Ravichandran Ashwin’s Inclusion

England might also field atleast 4 left-handers in Headingley as they have recalled Dawid Malan in the squad and have Rory Burns and Sam Curran in the lineup as well. This has led to many experts have predicted that India might be thinking of playing Ravichandran Ashwin in the XI.

Wasim Jaffer also said something in the vein as he referenced to Filter Kaapi, a type of coffee that is popular in Chennai from where Ashwin hails, and indicated to the Indian team to include the off-spinner in the playing XI for the Headingley Test.

“Sometimes you might not know but you just need that cup of filter kaapi, and only when you have it you know what you’ve been missing. Oh btw good luck to Team India for Headingley,” he tweeted.

Anything Is Possible: Virat Kohli On Ravichandran Ashwin’s Inclusion

Meanwhile, India captain Virat Kohli, during a virtual press conference on the eve of the third Test, mentioned that they were surprised to see the amount of grass on the Leeds pitch and mentioned that the team management will assess the pitch on how it could behave on the third and fourth days before making a call on Ashwin.

“As far as Ashwin playing in concerned we are quite surprised to see the pitch the way it was. We could see a lot of surface which honestly I did not expect would be the case. I thought there would be lot of grass on the pitch. It will be more spicy and lively. But it won’t be the case. So anything is possible,” Kohli said.

It remains to be seen if Ashwin comes in for left-arm spinning all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who hasn’t done much in terms of bowling in the two Tests he has played. Or if Ishant Sharma makes way for the off-spinner in the XI.
