Anthony Joshua fights on British soil for the first time in more than two years when he battles Kubrat Pulev in a world heavyweight title clash at Wembley arena tonight.

‘AJ’ has not fought on home territory since his September 2018 defeat of Alexander Povetkin and not at all since reclaiming his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO belts with a dominant rematch victory over Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia 12 months ago.

His showdown with IBF mandatory challenger Pulev was originally supposed to be held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June, only to be postponed as the result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The bout was eventually rescheduled for before Christmas and moved from the O2 Arena to The SSE Arena, Wembley, where 1,000 fans will return to a boxing event in the UK for the first time since March.

The chief support for the fight comes from Hackney’s Lawrence Okolie, who was due to compete for a cruiserweight world title this weekend before opponent Krzysztof Glowacki tested positive for Covid-19.

He will now face Poland’s Nikodem Jezewski instead.
