The new mask of Boston Bruins goaltender Anton Khudobin has the ability to change colors.

According to InGoal Magazine, Khudobin asked his designer, Sylvie Marsolais of Sylabrush for a unique look. So she listened to his request by using “Subzero” paint to shift the color with hot and cold water.

Marsolais goes into greater detail on the Mask with InGoal.

“Anton always wants original and unique masks so we brainstormed with Dobby and went with the old Bruins logo on top with a Matte finish to get a bigger contrast from the background,” Marsolais said. “As the cold water hits the mask it darkens to Black.”

Here is a video of how it looks with water being poured on it.

So essentially if Khudobin wants to take a drink of cold water during a game, the mask will change colors.

There are a few other interesting parts to the mask, including a fierce looking bear, along with TD Garden and the Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge.

“On one side we put a mean looking realistic bear with a pearl effect to make it come alive with a glossy clear,”Marsolais said. “On the other side you can see the TD garden with the Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge that you cannot miss when you go see a Bruins game. For the chin we took the “B” from the Bruins logo and incorporated it in his nickname, ‘DOBBY.’ The Russian Phoenix remains as always on the backplate.”

This is Khudobin’s second stint with the Bruins. Last summer the team signed him to a two-year, $2.4 million contract to backup Tuukka Rask. He played last season with the Anaheim Ducks, and San Diego Gulls, where he also wore creative masks.
