Watch: Boa constrictor found slithering outside Massachusetts hotel

Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Animal control officers in Massachusetts are trying to identify the owner of a boa constrictor found slithering outside a hotel.

Billerica & Tewksbury Animal Control said the boa, estimated to be about 4 years old, was found Sunday outside the Extended Stay America Hotel in Tewksbury.

Animal Control Officer Christine Gualtieri told MassLive the snake was "extremely thin and appearing to not have been fed in months."

"If it had been loose for a long time it would have had access to rodents in the environment," Gualtieri said. "This leads us to believe it was more than likely neglected and recently abandoned."

Animal control officials said the snake will be placed in a new home if no owner is identified.
