Slovakia’s manager Francesco Calzona pushed England’s Declan Rice after the final whistle as the Italian went to confront the officials following his team’s defeat.

The England midfielder was standing by the officiating team and began to approach Calzona, who reacted by sticking his hand into Rice’s chest.

Rice reacted to the incident, with Ivan Toney having to separate him from Calzona and other members of the Slovakia coaching team who rushed in.

Rice was pulled away from the site of the incident, and went on to shake the hands of the Slovakia players while still making his displeasure with the actions of their manager clear.

In his post-match press conference, Calzona explained how the incident unfolded from his perspective: “Rice was supposed to go to the referees and say goodbye and then leave. I had to speak to the referees and he was carrying on, continuing to speak. Then he apologised and it all ended there.”

England fought back from 1-0 down, equalising deep into stoppage time through an overhead-kick before Harry Kane headed the winner early in extra time.
