Watch: Heroic runners come to the rescue of exhausted woman during half marathon in Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Love Run Half Marathon showcased an act of genuine sportsmanship as three men helped an exhausted woman over the finish line.

The shattered runner’s knees began to buckle under the strain as she approached the end of the race in Pennsylvania’s largest city.

However, two fellow would-be athletes spotted their stricken co-runner and helped her to regain her footing before the woman slumped once more.

A third man then came to the rescue, carrying her right to the finish line, then placing her down and allowing her to complete the course herself.

The woman was helped into a wheelchair and taken to a nearby hospital. It is understood she made a full recovery.

Two of the three heroes were identified as Joseph McGinty and Bryan Crnkovic and have been widely praised for their attitude and compassion.

Crnkovic said: “It was about 100 yards from the finish line and as I was coming up I saw that her legs were giving out so I just grabbed her just before she fell and tried to help her along.

“It was me and another gentleman, then Joe came back and lifted her up to just before the finish line and let her cross on her own.”

The footage has warmed the hearts of millions of viewers across the globe after going viral.
