Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant was seen almost knocking down Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik with the bat. Meanwhile, batting first, the Capitals have posted 127 runs from their 20 overs at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Meanwhile, the incident took place on the 17th over. Rishabh Pant chopped one onto his feet and the ball was almost bouncing back to the wicket. Pant tried to keep it away with the bat and in the process almost knock Dinesh Karthik down.

The former KKR captain just got out of the way and managed to miss Rishabh Pant’s wild bat swing. However, things cooled down soon after and both Pant and Dinesh Karthik punched gloves and shared a laugh.

On a sluggish batting wicket, Delhi captain Rishabh Pant played a valuable knock of 39 runs to propel Delhi to a challenging total. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith got Delhi off to a flying start adding 35 runs for the first wicket before Kolkata Knight Riders made a super comeback.

The Eoin Morgan led-side kept picking up wickets from the other end which didn’t give Rishabh Pant to unleash the big hits. Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, and Venkatesh Iyer picked two wickets each.

Speaking at the end of the innings, Steve Smith, who is playing the first match of UAE leg of IPL 2021, stated the wicket was not easy to bat on. He said:

“Not an easy surface to play on. With the new ball, the only boundaries we got was when they overpitched or Shikhar sort of made it into a half-volley. When you bowl that good, hard length, some are skidding a bit low and some are stopping on the surface. As the ball got a little bit older, it just held up and took a bit of spin as well. We were probably looking for somewhere between 140 and 150, we are below that but hopefully, we can take a few early wickets, put some pressure on, squeeze through the middle and scrape throughout the whole 20. Our boys have been bowling exceptionally well, so hopefully we can start really well.”
