Following a memorable victory at the home of cricket, Team India celebrated the victory in the dressing room of Lord’s. The players also shared their thoughts on the aftermath of the famous win which will go down in the annals of Test history as one of the best comebacks.
Barreling towards a defeat in the first session, India’s fast-bowling pair of Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah scripted an incredible turnaround and put India in the driver’s seat. The win was eventually completed by the pacers on a chilly evening in London. Speaking about the win, Virat Kohli said:
“All I can say is I’m really proud of the team. We’ve had some really amazing overseas wins but this one is right up there just because of the belief and character we showed. And that’s been the hallmark of our team.”
While vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane stated that the comeback was excellent and the win means a lot to the team, Rohit Sharma pointed out the effort put in by every player on the team. There were contributions all-around, with everyone chipping in at crucial junctures.

Going into Day 5, the game was intriguingly poised on a knife’s edge. It could have swayed either way and the first hour of the day belonged to England. They removed the dangerous Rishabh Pant and put a stop to Ishant Sharma’s handy little cameo.
What followed soon was a delightful batting partnership between Shami and Bumrah. The duo bailed India out of a tough spot, this time with the bat, and stitched an 89-run unbeaten alliance which took India to a comfortable lead of 271.
They were breathing fire during the fourth innings as well, knocking off the top-order before a late resurgence from England courtesy of Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali was put to an end by the hard-working Mohammad Siraj. It was enough to blow away the tail and India managed to claim their third win at Lord’s.
With the victory, India earned 12 points in the WTC points table and is behind West Indies in the second spot. England meanwhile has two points from the draw in the first Test at Trent Bridge last week.
