Watford boss Claudio Ranieri has stressed the importance of his players getting vaccinated in the wake of a Covid-19 outbreak at Tottenham.

Spurs have been forced to close the first-team area of their training ground and the Europa Conference League match against Rennes has been postponed, with Sunday’s trip to Brighton expected to follow.

Head coach Antonio Conte looked visibly distressed when speaking to the media on Wednesday and Ranieri can understand the concerns of his fellow Italian.

And the Watford coach also stressed the importance of players getting vaccinated in the current climate.

“I think the more important thing is all the players must be vaccinated, because we play every three days now and we meet a lot of players,” said Ranieri.

“The vaccine is important because if something happens, with the vaccine is very slow. Without the vaccine, it is a big risk.

“And I understand Conte and I hope here in Watford everything continues to be okay.

“Of course, I have to respect everybody but they must know we stay together and then can infect something. Then it’s important that everybody must be vaccinated.

“It is very important to maintain the right [social] distance, take a test every two days and wear masks.”
