Hatchets fall on the road

POSEYVILLE — The Washington Hatchets fell to 6-8 with a PAC loss on the road to 11-3 North Posey on Saturday, 51-50.

The Hatchets were led by Colton Stowers with 15 points and four boards, while Cordell Turner added 13 and six boards. Chris Meredith added eight points, Brant Neidigh had five, while Ole Kroeger and Cooper Wright had two each.

The Hatchets travel to Tecumseh on Friday.

WC boys lose to Tabernacle

MARTINSVILLE — The Washington Catholic Cardinals dropped to 1-13 with a loss to Martinsville Tabernacle, 60-43 on Saturday.

WC's Justin Sipes had seven 3-pointers to tie a new single-game record for WC. Isaac Halter had 12 points, Aiden Henry with six, Abdu Askar and Jesus Gomez with two each.

The Cardinals travel to North Knox on Friday.

B-RJH splits

The Barr-Reeve Junior High Lady Vikings were back in action on Saturday against Vincennes Clark.

The seventh grade fell to the Lady Alices, 27-7 in two quarters. JJ Knepp led the way with five. Molly Jo Anderson scored two points. The seventh grade falls to 7-8 on the season.

The eighth grade started out very slowly and missed some shots in the first half. The Lady Alices led 13-10 at halftime. The Lady Vikings then kicked it into second gear in second half and won the game, 39-29.

JJ Knepp led the way with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Shelby Dobson scored 11 and Shay Knepp hit for nine. Ava Graber hit two big second half shots for her four. Avery Wittmer got a free throw for her point. The eighth grade goes to 10-5 on the season.

The Lady Vikings have three games next week before their Blue Chip Tourney starts the following week.

WJHS splits with LJHS

LOOGOOTEE — Washington Junior High Lady Hatchets basketball team traveled to Loogootee on Saturday for their final regular-season games.

Washington seventh grade Lady Hatchets got off to a cold start, but made it interesting with strong defense. This game would go down to the last second 3-point shot of the game, but it would fall short and the Hatchets would lose this game on the road 23-26. The seventh-grade girls finished the season at 11-5.

The Washington eighth would play a solid defensive game and win the game down the stretch by hitting free throws, 31-29.

B-R 5th, 6th battle Loogootee

The Barr-Reeve sixth grade girls lost to Loogootee, 33-13 with Shay Moffett getting all 13 points. B-R is now 7-6.

The Viking fifth won 29-17 with Kiera Graber getting 15 and Megan Anderson with nine.
