Wellington AFC's pre-season preparations are in full swing as Richard Cherry continues to finalise his squad ahead of the new season.

The Tangerines had a strong end to last season, including a significant victory over champions Helston Athletic.

Now, they are looking forward to their first match against Ilfracombe Town on July 27.

Cherry has confirmed that all the players have basically committed for the 2024-25 season, but is on the lookout to add several new signings.

Those staying with the club include highly-rated goalkeeper Jake Viney, seasoned defender Kieran Bailey and midfielder Glen Wright, who won multiple awards last season.

Midfielders Sam Towler and Josh Lukins, defender Mark Cornish, and Jake Quick - a top scorer in previous seasons and recent returnee from Axminster Town - will also remain at Wellington AFC.

Training sessions are continuing on the 3G pitch at Taunton's Castle School with the first warm-up game scheduled against the club's reserves on Saturday, June 29.

Other friendlies have also been organised, including July 10 against Chard Town, July 17 against Minehead, July 20 against Newton Abbot Spurs, and Bridgwater and Taunton College on July 23.

All friendly matches will be played away.
