West Ham star Payet ridiculed on Wikipedia after going on strike
West Ham hero-turned-villain Dimitri Payet had his Wikipedia page dramatically changed on Thursday after manager Slaven Bilic made public his refusal to play for the club.
The Hammers boss said that Payet no longer wants to play for the club after they reportedly rejected a £20m offer from Marseille.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Bilic said: “I phoned him with that and he refused to play for us. I have a team to manage. He’s probably been tapped up by some clubs or whatever. That is usual at this time of year.
“Until he changes his attitude, he is out of the team and he’s not going to train with us – but we are not going to sell him, not whatsoever.
“This team, the staff, we gave him everything, we were always there for him. I feel let down. I feel angry. I expect from him to come back and to show commitment and determination to the team like the team has shown to him.”
Since the announcement this morning, an anonymous user has changed the West Ham star’s Wikipedia page to reflect his ‘betrayal’ of the club.
The user changed Payet’s name to “Mr Snake”, and said the player is blessed with “terrific snakeyness and greed.”
The reference to the snake was a result of Payet’s perceived betrayal in refusing to play for the club.
