Jesse Lingard will definitely remain at Manchester United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s blessing.

The England international enjoyed a stunning second half of last season when inspiring West Ham’s charge to Europa League qualification.

But the Hammers’ failure to come up with an acceptable bid plus Lingard’s own desire to fight for his future will see him remain at Old Trafford until at least January.

It’s understood Solskjaer is happy to reintegrate the forward into his squad, despite the fact that playing time is likely to be limited.

The signings of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo means United boast an embarrassment of riches up front. And even the departure of Dan James to Leeds creates little room for Lingard to force his way in.

Out of contract at the end of the season, United have difficult decision to make after valuing him in the region of £30million this summer.

His salary of around £120,000-a-week has also been seen as a stumbling block to potential suitors.

Lingard was close to forcing his way into the England squad for the Euros and is keen to cement himself into Gareth Southgate’s plans ahead of the World Cup.

United might be more inclined to lower their valuation in January if they opt against extending his deal.
